Supreme Pu-Erh
The Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) marked an important era in the interlinked history of tea, China and Tibet. It is speculated that during that time, traders first began setting out on horseback, foot, camel, pack-mule and more, to deliver tea from China's Yunnan province to the remote mountain kingdom of Tibet.
The tea that was transported was packed solidly into bricks, balls or discs, that could be carried up and along treacherous mountain passes on trips that could last many months, and even years, depending on weather, war, banditry and other harsh conditions. By journey's end, the tea would take on the character of the caravan trail, aged like fine wine in a cask. The best of this tea, made its way to the ancient emperors who ruled Tibet at the time. They are said to have been proponents of aged Yunnan tea, believing it to be beneficial for mind, body and spirit.
In honor of the three emperors, we offer this spectacular 4 years aged, Supreme Pu-Erh. Made with leaf plucked from fields that have been producing tea since time immemorial, fermented Supreme Pu-erh offers rich notes of earth, malt and an ethereal sweetness that results from the aging process. A truly stunning tea, well befitting its regal name
